Measure Performance: Reports

Report: User Time Completed

Review recorded time by person, item, or persona, with historical persona attribution preserved.

Overview

The User Time Completed feature, found in the report section, is a valuable tool for tracking productivity and workload. It allows you to select an assignee and view the tasks and/or subtasks they have completed, along with the total hours they've spent on these items, within a specified date range.

This feature is particularly useful for project managers and team members, as it provides clear insights into individual performance and time management. By using 'User Time Completed', you can ensure that workloads are balanced, identify areas where additional support may be needed, and acknowledge the efforts of team members. It's an essential component for maintaining efficiency and fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.

The hours shown here come from time logged on individual items. For how that time is recorded and edited, see time tracking in the item workspace.

Grouping time by persona

In User Time Tracking, choose Persona as the grouping to total time under Engineer, QA Analyst, or another persona. The top-level rows show persona totals. Expand a persona to see the individual users whose time contributes to it, then expand a user to inspect the recorded work. A person can appear under more than one persona when they have recorded time in different personas.

A record belongs to one persona, so people with several personas do not multiply the hours. The Excel export includes the recorded persona and persona totals once your organization uses personas.

New time records capture the chosen persona on the work, falling back to the time author's first active persona when no persona is chosen. Changing an assignment or a member's persona order later does not move completed time into another persona. Older time without a captured persona stays Unspecified.

Manual subtask time belongs to the subtask's assignee. Editing an existing positive duration keeps its captured persona; setting it to zero and then recording time again starts a new capture. Separate time entries retain their own authors and captured personas.

To compare personas month by month over a chosen item hierarchy, use the Time Allocation Matrix. Compare the same items, permissions, date range, and timezone: both reports include completed time entries and dated manual subtask time.
