DevStride has one search, in the box at the top of every screen (Search or jump to...). Clicking the box and pressing Cmd/Ctrl + K open the same search: there is no separate search window. It is the quickest way back to something you were just working on, and the quickest way to anything else whose name or number you know.
Tab.Cmd/Ctrl + K anywhere in DevStride. The box shows the shortcut for your computer (Cmd+K on a Mac, Ctrl+K elsewhere).Cmd/Ctrl + K is left alone while you are typing in a field, so in the description editor it still adds a link, and while a dialog is open. Press it again in the search box to close the search and go back to where you were.
The results open in a panel under the box. Click anywhere outside it, or Tab away, to close it.
With nothing typed, the panel lists your Recent places, the most recent first: the pages, work items, workstreams, board folders, boards, cycles and Gantts you opened (and items you created) in this organization. It shows the newest 20. Below them:
Your recent places are kept with your account, not in your browser, so they follow you to another browser or computer. Each organization has its own list. A place that has since been deleted drops off the list.
Type at least two characters. DevStride searches as you pause and lists what matches, in sections:
| Section | What it finds |
|---|---|
| Recent Items | Your recent places whose names match, listed first |
| Pages | DevStride pages, such as My Work, Measure Performance or My account: History. Typing an older page name, such as Reports or Gantt, still finds the page. |
| Work Items | Items, by number or title |
| Workstreams | Workstreams, by number or name |
| Board Folders | Board folders |
| Boards | Boards |
| Cycles | Cycles (time-based boards) |
| Gantts | Gantt charts |
Pages, work items, workstreams, boards and cycles show their first five matches each; board folders and Gantts list every match. Within a section, places you opened recently come first, then names where your words appear earliest. The button at the right of the panel's footer switches between these sections and one combined list, and DevStride remembers your choice.
Include archived, in the footer, adds archived work items and workstreams to the results, each marked Archived. It is off until you switch it on, and DevStride remembers the setting in this browser.
Type an item number and press Enter:
I14583 (or i14583) opens item I14583 straight away; F42 opens workstream F42.14583 finds item I14583 and lists it first. Enter opens it if it is the only result; otherwise the first Enter highlights it and the second opens it.A number needs no minimum length: 7 finds I7.
Type # on its own to see the filters, or start your search with one:
| Type | To search only |
|---|---|
#recent | Your recent places |
#page | Pages |
#item | Work items |
#workstream | Workstreams |
#folder | Board folders |
#board | Boards |
#cycle | Cycles |
#roadmap | Gantt charts |
Then a space and your words, for example #board Urgent or #roadmap 2026. With only the filter typed, the panel lists your recent places of that kind, such as Recent Boards. A filtered search shows more than five matches: up to 50 work items, workstreams, boards or cycles, and every matching page.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
↑ / ↓ | Move the highlight through the results (it wraps around) |
Enter | Open the highlighted result, or the item whose number you typed |
Alt + Enter (or Alt + click) | Open a work item on the Map instead of in the item drawer, or a workstream in its drawer instead of on the Map |
Esc | Close the search; an item drawer open behind it stays open |
Cmd/Ctrl + K | Close the search and return to where you were |
Choosing a work item opens it in the item drawer; choosing a workstream opens it on the Map. Without access to the Map, both open in the drawer, and an archived workstream always opens in its drawer.
On a narrow screen the search box fills the header, and the results fill the screen below it. There is no Esc key, so the × in the box closes the search; on a larger screen the × only empties the box and shows your recent places again.
