The AI Assistant sits in the lower-right corner of every page, once your organization has switched it on. Ask it how to do something and it answers from this documentation site, linking the pages it used. Ask about your own work and it looks up items, boards, tickets and articles as you. Ask it to change something and it shows you exactly what will change, then waits for your Approve.
It always works as you: it only sees what you can see, and it can only do what your own role allows.
Click the round assistant button in the lower-right corner. Its fill slowly cycles through a rainbow, the one colour treatment in DevStride reserved for AI. The assistant grows out of the button into a panel docked along the bottom of the window. The buttons in its title bar let you:
DevStride remembers the layout you chose and reopens the assistant the same way next time. While the assistant is open, the page behind it dims slightly but stays clickable. With an item open in the side drawer, the button and the docked assistant move to the left of the drawer, so you can ask about the item while the drawer stays usable. Widen the drawer until there is no room left and the button fades out, then fades back in when there is room again.
If you don't see the button, your organization hasn't switched the assistant on, or your role doesn't include Use Ai Assistant. Ask an organization admin; Settings, Permissions & Your Data explains both.
| You want to | Example | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Learn how DevStride works | How do I create a sprint cycle for my team? | Asking Questions |
| Look something up in your workspace | Which of my items are overdue? | Working With Your Workspace |
| Change something, with your approval | Rename I12 to "Fix login" and move it to Done. | Working With Your Workspace |
| Come back to an earlier chat | Conversations | |
| Switch it on, choose what it may use, decide who may use it | Settings, Permissions & Your Data |
How-to answers are available as soon as the assistant is on. Looking up and changing your own work needs the admin to allow DevStride data as well.
The assistant is the newest of several places DevStride uses AI. They share the same rainbow look so you can tell them apart from the rest of the app.
