AI Assistant

Working With Your Workspace

Let the AI Assistant look up your items, boards, tickets and articles, and make changes you approve card by card, or in auto mode for routine edits.

When your organization allows DevStride data, the assistant can read your workspace to answer a question, and propose changes to it. It reads and writes as you, so it never sees anything you couldn't open yourself, and every change is recorded as yours.

Ask about your workspace

The assistant can look up your items, workstreams, boards, Gantts, cycles, tickets, Knowledge Base articles, time entries and team workload. For example:

  • List the items assigned to me that are due this week.
  • What's left on the Release 3 board?
  • Summarise this Gantt.
  • Which tickets are about to breach their SLA?

What you're looking at

When you ask with an item or workstream open in the side drawer, or from a board, board folder, Gantt or Knowledge Base article, the assistant is told what you have open, so "this" means the thing in front of you. A Context chip above the message box shows what will be sent (for example Context: I123 — Fix login). Click the × on the chip to ask without it. Each past question keeps its chip, so you can see what it was asked about.

Changes need your approval

When the assistant wants to change something, it stops and shows a card before doing anything:

  • The assistant wants to says what it will do, with a link to the record.
  • A table lists each field as it is Now and what it will be After.
  • Approve makes exactly that change, once. Reject changes nothing, and the assistant is told you said no.

A far-reaching change (a delete, an archive, a bulk edit, a move) is outlined in red, and a delete is also marked Permanent. A bulk change lists every record and field it touches; long lists collapse behind Show all.

A change waits until you decide. Sending a new message cancels it, and so does leaving it for 24 hours. Only the person who asked can approve or reject.

Auto mode

If you'd rather not approve every small edit, open the assistant's options and turn on Auto mode. It is off by default, and it applies only to you, in this organization. With it on, ordinary edits (a title, a status, a due date) run without a card and are marked Auto-approved in the list of changes.

These always ask, even in auto mode:

  • deleting or archiving, and restoring from the archive;
  • moving something under a different parent, board folder or workstream (it takes on that parent's sharing);
  • sharing, ownership and permission changes, and changes to team members;
  • bulk changes;
  • anything a customer would see, like a public reply or a change to a customer's request;
  • publishing a Knowledge Base article.

What changed

Every answer that changed something ends with a What changed list, with a link to each record. In each item's Activity, the change appears as yours, marked via AI Assistant, so a teammate reading the history can tell the two apart.

Safety

  • Whatever a ticket, comment or description might try to trick the assistant into doing, nothing far-reaching changes without your approval, auto mode or not.
  • The assistant can't do anything your own role doesn't allow. A member who can't delete items can't have the assistant delete one either.
  • It never touches billing, payment details, API keys, sign-in settings or database credentials.
