Sorting in the Items Section
Overview
The "Items" section in DevStride is where you can view and manage all the tasks and work items. Sorting these items helps in prioritizing, organizing, and finding tasks efficiently.
How to Sort Items
- Navigate to the "Items" section in DevStride.
- Click on the "Sort" button, located in the top right corner above the item list.
Available Sorting Fields
You can sort the items by the following fields:
- Date Added: Sorts items by the date and time they were added to the system.
- Start Date: Organizes items by the date they were started.
- Due Date: Arranges items by their due date, helping to prioritize urgent tasks.
- Item Type: Sorts items by their type, such as Epic, Story, Bug, etc.
- Author: Organizes items by the person who created them.
- Point Effort: Sorts items by the estimated effort required, usually in story points.
- Time Spent: Organizes items by the amount of time logged against them.
- Team: Sorts items by the team assigned to them.
- Cycle: Organizes items by the development cycle or sprint they are associated with.
- Board: Sorts items by the board they are part of.
- Subtasks Count: Organizes items by the number of subtasks they contain.
- Labels Count: Sorts items by the number of labels attached.
- Dependencies Count: Organizes items by the number of dependencies linked to them.
- Title: Sorts items alphabetically by their title.
- Assignee: Organizes items by the person assigned to work on them.
- Priority: Sorts items by their priority level.
- Status: Organizes items by their current status in the workflow.
- Estimate: Sorts items by the estimated time needed for completion.
Applying Sorting
To apply a sorting order:
- Select the desired field from the "By Field" dropdown menu.
- Choose the sorting order:
- Ascending (↑) for a top-to-bottom increase.
- Descending (↓) for a top-to-bottom decrease.
- Click the "Sort" button to reorganize the items list.
Example
For instance, if you want to view the most recently added items first:
- Open the "Sort" panel.
- Select "Date Added" from the dropdown.
- Set the order to "Descending".
- Click "Sort" to apply.
