Sorting in Cycles
Overview
The "Cycles" section of DevStride provides users with a way to manage their tasks within different time frames or sprints. Sorting these tasks can help teams to prioritize and organize their workflow effectively.
How to Access the Sort Feature
To sort tasks within a cycle:
- Go to the "Cycles" view in your DevStride workspace.
- Click on the "Sort" button at the top right side of the task board.
Available Sorting Fields
Within a cycle, tasks can be sorted based on the following fields:
- Rank - Sorts items according to their assigned priority or sequence in a backlog.
- Date Added - Organizes items by the date they were created in the system.
- Start Date - Arranges items by the date work on them commenced.
- Due Date - Orders items by their deadline.
- Item Type - Sorts items by their category, such as 'Story', 'Bug', or 'Task'.
- Author - Organizes items by the creator's name.
- Point Effort - Arranges items by the estimated effort or complexity points assigned to them.
- Time Spent - Orders items by the amount of time logged against them.
- Team - Sorts items by the team assigned to work on them.
- Cycle - Organizes items by the cycle or sprint they are associated with.
- Board - Arranges items by the board they are part of.
- Subtasks Count - Orders items by the number of subtasks they contain.
- Labels Count - Sorts items by the number of labels attached to them.
- Dependencies Count - Organizes items by the number of dependencies they have.
- Title - Arranges items alphabetically by their title.
- Assignee - Orders items by the assigned team member's name.
- Priority - Sorts items by their level of urgency or importance.
- Status - Organizes items by their current state in the workflow.
- Estimate - Arranges items by the estimated time required to complete them.
These sorting options allow for detailed customization of how items are displayed, facilitating better planning and management of work within a cycle.
Applying Sort
To apply sorting:
- After clicking the "Sort" button, select the field by which you want to sort your tasks.
- Choose the order:
- Ascending (↑)
- Descending (↓)
- Click on the "Sort" button to reorganize the tasks.
Example
To sort the tasks by Due Date in ascending order:
- Click on the "Sort" button.
- From the "Sort by Field" dropdown, select "Due Date".
- Choose "Ascending" for the order.
- Click "Sort" to apply the sorting.
This will organize the tasks starting with the earliest due date.
